Book launch party and celebrating good things

As bad and a hard as last year was, this year has been the complete opposite. The only hiccup were the two discs I severely herniated in my neck this Summer. I’ve opted to try to stick it out and let them heal on their own, but it’s meant for  months of sitting on ice packs, physical therapy, and missing most of the summer flea markets…and not getting too much done around the home including gardening. I am finally at the point where I have very little pain, but lifting anything flares it up, so when you see me and hubby at the Flea this weekend, tell him what a great job he has been doing. He’s been my back and arms this summer and I could not appreciate him or love him more for it. The upside to this whole things is the kids have all learned to do laundry and have gotten pretty good at it. Everyone I have talked to who has had disc stuff says besides cortisone and surgery, it just takes time. I’ll give it time if it means avoiding surgery, but I also know if I get to a point where it seems like its’ not getting any better, I’ll do what I need to to get back to normal. At least right now I’ve moved past not being able to move my left arm very well and the awful arm heaviness, and my day is almost normal without lifting. That’s always a plus.

But it’s a small bump and while I feel maybe it came at the worst time, maybe God has had  a plan in it to make me slow down a bit, because it certainly has. And I’ve learned how to rely more on other people too, which I am not used to doing very well. I am very DIY and I haven’t been able to do much of that, more of pay someone else (as a good friend would say.). Which actually is kind of nice too. 🙂

But the best thing is, besides the stencil line,my book is coming out and I can’t believe it! And we are having a  book launch party to celebrate it!

  2. Hi Jen,
First and foremost, I wish you fast healing so you can get back to doing all the things you love to do when you want to do them, and enjoying life to its very fullest with family and friends. I have had a pain in the neck (and I’m sure I’ve been one, too) and I believe I can appreciate some of your frustration and fear. I am hoping that one day soon your struggle will suddenly seem so far behind you. Bless your hubby, and a good physiotherapist is worth her weight in gold and more. I am sending all the positive vibes I can muster your way for a speedy recovery and tons of pain-free, totally joy-filled days.
Second, congratulations again on your beautiful new book. I wish I could attend the launch. I know it’s going to be one wonderful success. Have fun autographing all those books!!!
    Wishing you a beautiful day,
    Linda at Beautiful Ideas
