New to me table…

I’ve been looking for a vintage table with pedestal legs for our eat in nook area.  The table we have there has been fine except every time I scoot out from the bench I whack my knees on one of the legs.
Look at this beauty I picked up on craigslist!
She’s a vintage Duncan Phyfe; and except for the top being really trashed, super -sturdy and in great shape.
but it’s nothing that a few coats of paint can’t fix. Not a bad find for $30!
the leaves even drop down for space saving.
 I just adore the legs.

I am hoping to have some great weekend weather to pull out the paint and brushes. I think a bit of Linen White will work magic, or maybe I should mix it up with a color?

  1. gorgeous table! I have just plain given up on our craigslist!

I can’t wait to see how it turns out…I have a dark stained table like that and can hardly wait to paint it white. I’m a little scared though. 🙂

    Have fun with the paintbrushes!

  2. Jen,
Great find.I love that it has two pedestal legs.I had a table with one and it was not sturdy if someone leaned on it.I like your table ALLOT!And what a super steal too.I am sure it will look amazing when you are done. Can’t wait to see it.

  3. What a great find at a good price. Love when you find things like this. Looking forward to seeing it the way you want it. have a beautiful and creative day…Chickie

  4. Great table! My sister just got one similar to it when mutual friends inherited a table and they gave her their old one. I love how furniture can shift around through families or communities to whomever might need it. Or in this case, to who can paint it and rejuvenate it after 4 kids had trashed it:)

  6. Nice find. I’ve had several of these tables over the years, and they’re very versatile. I think a fresh coat of paint will do wonders. Can’t wait to see what finish you decide on.

  7. I like it!!! Mine is almost exactly like it and belonged to my mother. I’m 63, so I’d imagine my table is fairly vintage as well. I can’t wait to see what you do with it.

  8. Love duncan phyfe I came across one of these with four chairs for 90 at a sale and my friend came over and promptly traded me a chandelier I had been drooling over that she has, she is painting and putting in her kitchen breakfast nook it too has drop leafs I was just going to paint and recover chairs and put in my booth so I love when a friend trades as I get to see the furniture for years!, I guessed mine to be 1940’s era the smaller scale and beautiful shape is awesome and I cannot wait to see what you do with yours, I personally love the linen white idea for this table!!

  9. My mom has an old Duncan Phyfe similar to yours! I had the brilliant idea to use it as an ironing board when I was a teen and left a huge iron mark on the table! Luckily, she kept a runner on the table so I hid the mark!!

    Great find – $30 score!!
