Visualizing your paint colors before a room makeover….

You know how some rooms are just ready for a change? My girls’ are growing up. The last time I did their room makeover was back in 2010, when I had 3 little ones under the age of 8 sharing one rooms.Flash forward to 2014 and now I have an almost teen and a grade-schooler in one room and they keep begging me to change their room, it’s too baby-ish. Plus Oldest now has a loft and doesn’t like it when anyone touches her “stuff” and keeps close tabs. You want to hear someone shriek like a crazy banshee? Sneak up there when she’s not home and move a few things around just slightly and sit back and wait. It’s almost like she has these magic powers of knowing when someone has breathed just the wrong way near her side.
So they are ready for a new space that shows how grown-up they are becoming.

You know I love Sherwin-William’s paint, we used to extensively over at the Oak house and I get asked all of the time what colors I used. For thier room I am going for a fun, modern look with color to update their space. They are excited to get some new drapes and something less as they termed it “Old Lady”. What can I say? I liked the sweet floral’s then.

Here is their space before.

At least the clean side.

DSC_1777So I started with the Sherwin-Williams Color Visualizer to try out different colors in the HGTV Home collection. I even was able to use it to see if I wanted to paint the furniture again! I thought I would show you 3 examples of what I was playing with before we make the finial decision. Of course the “queen” has to give her input.I used the color visualizer to pick various colors from The HGTV Home color collection line.

SHerwin williams color visualizer 3The first one I painted the walls SW 7005 Pure White and the furniture SW 6478 Watery,it was pretty, but I don’t know if white is going to hold up in their room too well. And it may not be grown up enough.

SW color visualizer2 This last one I went way crazy with, and so out of my comfort zone but it was fun to try.I tried the walls in SW 6821 Potentially Purple and the furniture in the 6979 Verve Violet.

I loved using the color visualizer! It made it so easy to try out different colors with no risk – just like they say, ‘Picture it before you paint it.’

The best thing about the Color Visualizer is you can upload a photo or use one of their scenes to explore option and visualize the finished space, no masking required .

You can also share your scenes on social media and once you have found the perfect palette, you can print out the color information along with a coupon and bring it to your local Sherwin-Williams store.

In a few weeks, I get to show you the finished result! I can’t wait!

Now for a chance to win a $50 Sherwin-Williams gift card, tell me what room will you make-over using Sherwin-Williams?

  4. What a wonderful way to visualize new colors in our living room. After painting literally 10 samples on our kitchen/dining room walls and still choosing the wrong one, this tool will be very helpful!

  5. Oh how exciting! I LOVE SW paint! I started using it after winning a gift card 4 years ago… it is truly a dream to use! What would I paint? Ha ha! funny you should ask because…. we are currently in the process of doing a few “makeovers.” The youngest as a freshman in high school has decided he room might be ready for a bit of updating (it was his eldest brother’s room), then there is the laundry/utili-corridor, and our kitchen (highest priority.) So we have a LOT of painting ahead of us. 🙂
Hope you are having a wonderful week!
