10 Minute DIY Vintage Map Art
Hi there! It’s me- Jen from City Farmhouse & today I am sharing a really easy decorating idea! Decorating, building, DIY & design makes me SO happy, it feeds my soul but it all takes time, lots of time:). So when I find projects that take just a few minutes and give a BIG impact, it’s a huge win for me. Here is some 10 minute DIY map art! I love coastal style and decor.
Last week I found these old vintage maps, they were $5 each, deal, right?! I couldn’t wait to use them to make art with!
I just unrolled them & gave the vintage maps a little trim where the paper was a little ragged and torn.
If you have vintage maps or antique papers and you don’t want to use to originals to craft or create with, make a copy at your local copy store and use that instead. You can use this trick with any vintage paper item and lets you preserve it without compromising it’s integrity.
By laying the glass over top {be careful},I simply marked the edges with a pencil & then cut it with scissors for a perfect fit! If you are nervous about using the glass, you can also use the cardboard backing inside the frame, or the example picture that comes inserted inside.
It was so easy! I found the frames at IKEA, but any frame will work! And I LOVE them!!! I change the art with the seasons, I just keep the prints behind each other. Making home decor from old maps is so easy.
These are my boys from winter.I am hoping to get some summer prints up soon:). I order them from our local CVS or Walgreens. It makes it so easy to make art personalized that way on a fast turnaround time!
This is great way to accent other art such as this paper book page ruffled wreath hung inside and empty wood frame. It’s makes it art all by itself.
I hope this simple project inspired you today. It doesn’t have to be maps, it can be any print old or new. This is also a great time of year for garage & tag sales, keep your eyes open:)! If you liked this post you may also like this project to make coastal inspired abstract art….
