DIY Hanging Snow Globe Ornaments
I’m Jennifer Zuri at Town and Country Living and I’m a regular contributor here at Jennifer Rizzo’s blog. I like to come up with easy Christmas decorating ideas and today I’m sharing DIY hanging snow globe ornaments that are ridiculously easy to make and look so pretty, too! It’s never too early to start crafting for the holidays! There are so many options to make these and they can be made with a glass or plastic ornament and customized too!

I’m sure you’ve seen snow globes made from mason jars, but these are made from hanging glass terrariums (you can also use photo snowglobe ornaments or plastic fillable ornaments). A variety of supplies can be found for this project here.
You can find hanging globe terrariums at craft stores or buy them online. When creating my DIY hanging snow globes, I placed the globe in a small bowl for stability, especially if the bottom isn’t flat.
To represent snow, fill your hanging terrarium with or epsom, kosher alt or faux snow from the craft store. You can also add some white glitter to make it sparkle!
Start placing your mini decorations into the snow inside of your DIY snow globe ornaments. If your hands have a hard time fitting in the ornament opening, you can use small tongs or tweezers to place items such as mini bottle brush trees. If your items are heavier and fall over, you can apply a little hot glue and hot glue gun to the bottom to hold in place, and then add your faux snow after.
Keep adding items to your snow globe until you achieve the look you want, 1 to 3 items are the perfect amount without having them feel too full. Tie twine or a pretty ribbon to the top of your mini snow globes as a hanger.
You don’t have to just use mini figurines. This DIY hanging snow globe simply has a trio of ornaments. I also used a few dabs of hot glue to attach some faux boxwood on the top with a pinecone.
TIP: When making DIY hanging globe ornaments, look in the dollhouse aisle or Christmas village aisle for cute miniatures to place inside!
This is also a great way to display petite keepsake or vintage ornaments that you don’t want to display on their own! They are really highlighted against the white blanket of snow. It’s so much fun choosing how to decorate your hanging snow globe, and a pretty and simple DIY Christmas ornament.
The possibilities are almost endless. I think this little snowman globe with the white trees is my favorite!
The little white and frosty bottle brush mini-trees are pretty embellishments that make it a winter wonderland.
Another idea for these DIY hanging snow globes is to simply add a battery-operated tea light candle nestled in the faux snow. Use a flameless style of candle and NOT a real one to keep it safe. Hang these snow globes around the house, or even clustered on your Christmas tree! If you like quick and easy at Christmas time, you’ll enjoy making these pretty ornaments.
