Making a Beaded Forever Plant

We’ve all done it. We buy a gorgeous plant and then a few months later, as it languishes in it’s pot, our new plant dies a slow death from either over watering, not enough water, too much sunlight, not enough sunlight or just because it’s Thursday. I’ve seen several Tik Tok creators make these and I knew I needed to make one of my own and share it with you. The good news is with a few supplies you can make your own, cute beaded forever plant! This can be a pricey project though, so buying the beads on sale is helpful I used about 8 strands of bead at $4-$8 a piece. To save money you could also find some thrift store necklaces and break them up also or use plastic beads. This is so fun make and it’s a cute little decor item to keep for yourself or to give as a gift. While there is no watering required, I would keep it out of direct sunlight with the glass beads! Glass can act like a prism and start fires.

Cut Your Wire and Add Beads

Start by measuring out and cutting your thin, green wire in 6-10 inch pieces. It depends on how full you want your “plant” be. You want different lengths for your plant “stems. Create longer ones to hang over the edge and shorter ones that will stick up and you can curl under. Vary the beads to create and interesting look to the stem.

Run the end of the wire through a bead and loop it back to the wire, twisting it. This will create the bottom so your beads don’t fall off. String enough beads on the wire leaving at least 5 inches of wire open at the top to loop through and set aside. Create 4 -6 more wire lengths of beads this way.

Loop a Wire Through The End

Loop the open wire end through the end bead and pull tight with the bent nose needle nose pliers. This will finish your stem and keep the beads in place. You may need to “scoot” the bead down as you pull the wire to snug it up next to the other beads.

Finish all of Your Beaded Wires

Complete all of your beaded wires making sure they are varied in length. There should be about 3-4 inches of exposed wire on the end.

Add Dried Floral Foam to Your Pot

Fill the pot with a good sized chunk of green dried floral foam and push into the pot tightly. This will create the base of making a beaded forever plant.

Push Your Wires into the Foam

Push the longer stem wires into the foam, moving around the outside of the pot. The shorter stem wires will be placed after the moss is added. You can add white craft glue to the stems to help hold them in place.

Add white glue to the top of the foam and then push the moss around the top to cover up any exposed wires.

Add the remaining short stems to fill out the top of your plant and bend the stems to resemble a plant.

Style Your Beaded Forever Plant

Once the glue is dry, style the “stems and leaves” of your beaded forever plant and add to your decor. Make sure to keep out of reach of pets and kids since they are a choking hazard and can also be easily pulled out. This also makes a cute Mother’s Day gift or new home owner gift! Now you don’t have to worry about your plant needing sunlight or water! Just enjoy!
