Be kind art print
As a part of the DecoArt challenge this month, we were tasked with creating word art with the new 2017 colors. I wanted to create this Be Kind art print as something I could hang in my Little’s room. I used Coral, Bright blue, Laguna, and Gold from their Dazzling Metallics line of paint.
I decided on the phrase “Be Kind” because I thought it was a good daily reminder, even for myself!
I drew it in pencil first so I could get my lines right, and fix anything I didn’t like. I used my own handwriting, but you use a font, make sure they are free public use fonts.
There are a lot of great sites like Dafont which has free fonts to use. You can even purchase one’s for commercial use as well, if you want to put it on something to sell.
I started by painting over my pencil lines with a base coat of coral and blue. I wasn’t in love with the coral a lettering, so I ended up painting over it at the end.
I let the base coat dry.
Then, I added small, simple branches around the lettering.
I added some gold dots to the branches, and I ended up going back over the lettering with blue and gold.
I also added the coral in free-form dots to the branches to add some color.
After adding blue and gold over the initial coral lettering, and I liked the lettering so much more with the smaller coral accents. It just worked better. I really love how the completed canvas turned out!
I also have it as an art print here for you, that you can print and use (for personal use only.). I have it in 2 versions for you. One is a little brighter, and the other a little more faded, depending on what you prefer!
