Cozy winter living room

Hi guys! When I was asked to be  a part of the cozy winter decor blog hop,and to share my cozy winter living room, I was happy and honored to join in. I posted in December on how to add Hygge to your home, so this was right up my alley!

I can never decide if the house feels clean and clutter-free after the holidays, or completely barren and empty. I think that’s why it’s so important to add those cozy touches and things that warm up the space! I know white can seem too stark for some people, but I just love it since we’ve painted it,and personally, it give me a chance to add color and add warmth in other ways.

Cozy winter decor

This is it peeps. This is where I nest all winter. My coffee, my warm faux fur blanket, and a book. If you need to find me, I will be here until May.

One thing I love to do in winter is add forced bulbs from the grocery store. It helps with the winter blahs. Everything here in Chicago is a bot dreary out this time of year, and the scent of hyacinths, and color from other flowers really add some cheer when it gets dark here at 4:30 pm.

I actually just cashed in some gift cards at Homegoods and treated myself to this lovely, warm and fluffy rug. The kids love how soft it is, it’s lovely to walk on, but a complete pain in the bum to vacuum. But,there are always trade-offs, right?

Another thing I love to do to add some coziness, is have a favorite candle burning during the day.

My new candle obsession is the Cardamom and Fig candle from Target. It smells like an Anthro candle, but for way less.  I am actually going to buy another one today. 🙂

I added some warmer elements to the mantel, and freshness with wood and greenery.

Old stairway wood pieces as candle holders

I love these old wood stairway parts as candle holders, and I’ve added some greenery, and an Amaryllis bulb.

I just love the mix of woods to bring in warmth. I put my battery-operated candles in these.

I love having things grow during the winter.

But since I am so impatient, I am not against mixing in a few faux plants and flowers!

  1. Loving the cozy home blog hop idea! We all need to make things super cozy this time of year. I am about 5 hours north of you in WI with lots of snow here. It is beautiful to look at the snow draped pine trees surrounding my home while I make things cozy and warm inside. I will hunt for one of those great smelling candles to add to the coziness! Thx for sharing and all of your wonderful inspiration.

  2. Love this, Jen. I love forced bulbs too but haven’t done any this year. I think I will wait a few more weeks and start forcing some forsythia cuttings. Love your new rug! Thanks for joining us for the Blog Hop. xxoo

  3. Your living room is so cozy Jen, I just love it!! Thanks for sharing about that Target candle too – I’ll have to go sniff it out 🙂 LIke you I’m all about some flowers during these dreary months. I’ll have to give bulbs another go – I always forget to water regularly so you can guess my results… 🙁 Must try harder!!!

Love being on the hop together, what a joy!!!

    xoxo,

    Jennifer
