Decorating a Powder Room with a Gallery Wall

Today I want to introduce Jennifer Carroll from Celebrating Everyday Life and some of her beautiful talents and home. Today she is going to share a bit about decorating a powder room by creating a gallery wall with frames, vintage images and other items.

Hi! My name is Jennifer Carroll and I blog over at Celebrating Everyday Life and I’m sharing a bit about decorating my Powder Room.
A rustic wooden ladder leans against a wall, decorating a powder room with a gourd, blue towel, framed pictures, plates, and a white orchid below.
To My powder room has been a pretty neglected space in my house until this past weekend. I wasn’t sure just what I wanted to do in here… It has a weird ceiling and I just felt stuck (and a bit uninspired) but I think I was mostly procrastinating because I didn’t really have a “vision” for the space. I finally decided to “just do something already” so I began hunting around through my random bits and pieces to see what I could come up with. First, I found the prints. If you’ve seen the rest of my house you know I have a love-affair with Turquoise/Aqua/Robin’s Egg Blue or whatever you want to call it. These prints each have a hint of that color so I decided to make a grouping of them.
Two decorative vintage plates with intricate floral patterns hang on a beige wall—one with red designs, the other with black—perfect for decorating a powder room with timeless charm.
Next, I found the plates (I can’t resist pink or brown transferware so I have quite a collection – hanging it on the wall helps with my storage!).
A wall display perfect for decorating a powder room, featuring a landscape painting, framed butterfly print, two decorative plates, and a large letter "C" on a beige background.
Finally I added the letter “C” which I had gotten on ebay a while ago. I laid them all out on the floor and played with it until I had a grouping arrangement that I liked. I don’t mind if plates are chippy, if anything, I think it adds to the character and charm of a collage (at least that’s what I tell myself!).

I have a couple of antique ladders and realized that one of them would totally solve my weird ceiling height issue in here – and not only does it look pretty but it also make a handy towel rack!
Decorative arrangement perfect for decorating a powder room: an orchid in a metal pot, a metal orb, empty distressed frames, a white planter with greenery, and vintage-style decor on a dark wooden table.
There was still a bit of empty space under the collage so I tucked in a small drop leaf accent table and topped it with a random collection of garden inspired decor pieces and a quartet of frames which I’ve yet to hang. Most of these are antique pieces that I’ve collected over the years but the round galvanized metal piece is actually a recent purchase from Target! I hope you enjoyed this little tour of my Powder Room! I still have more to do in here but this is a great start and I don’t feel that the room is so “incomplete” any more! I also have a magazine which I am super proud to call Jennifer a contributor of – Celebrating Everyday Life with Jennifer Carroll. If you haven’t seen it yet, I encourage you to check it out and see Jennifer’s beautiful work and those of other bloggers you love too! Happy Celebrating and thanks again for letting me visit with you today!

  1. Thank you so much for allowing me to share with your readers today and share my powder room decor! I’m praying the clean-up and recovery process goes well! Hugs, Jennifer C. 🙂

  2. Such a pretty powder room, Jennifer! I love how you’ve decorated it as you would any other room in your home. Love your transferware plates. Hanging them is a great idea to get them out of a cabinet and where they can be seen.

I was so sorry to hear about the flooding, Jen. I’m thinking of you and hope that you are soon back to normal.

  3. Dear Jen,
I wanted to tell you how sorry I was to hear what your family is going through. I live in Homer Glen – luckily we were spared but I know plenty of people that were not so lucky. Driving to work this morning going through areas near the Des Plaines river was very surreal. House after house – block after block with dumpsters and garbage piled as high as the eye can see. My heart goes out to you and your family and all that have lost so much due to the flooding. Stay Strong.

  4. That is one gorgeous gallery wall – would look pretty anywhere, not just a powder room. Still keeping your family in my prayers, Jen. I was just telling my son last night about your house and how lucky we were that our basement only had a couple of inches of water in it.

  5. I was so sorry to read about your home being affected by the terrible flooding in parts of our country and hope life will get back to normal very soon for you and others who have been so devastated. You are in my prayers.
The powder room featured in this post is lovely and Jennifer used such inventive ideas in there!

  6. Continuing to remember you and others who have been devastated by the flood of waters.
How fun is it to have a guest post by Jennifer. She is an amazing woman with impeccable taste. Isn’t her bathroom fabulous?
Wishing you God’s best as you recover.
