Easy Fall Mantel Decorating Ideas-Even If You Don’t Have A Mantel
The nights and mornings are cooler with warm days, the leaves are turning and it’s time to start fall decorating! I was looking for some Fall mantel decorating ideas and I thought I would share some to inspire you too! For years we didn’t have a mantel, and when we finally got one, it is faux, but that’s ok you don’t need a mantel to use these ideas! I still love styling it and making it pretty for fall! Here are a few tips for adding easy Fall touches to your decor!
Decorate with Fall Themes like Mushrooms
If you’re tired of the same old pumpkin decor for fall, try using mushrooms and other woodland motifs. Mushrooms have been around for a bit and are still very popular!
These book page mushrooms are easy to make and look very cool when grouped together.
Bring in Gathered Nature
Use items such as fallen branches, dried grasses from outside, and flowers such as hydrangeas and golden rod. They are free to gathered from your yard, and bring in a pretty and natural fall feel. Keeping it simple sometimes is a good way to showcase just a few stems and make a statement.
Decorate With Neutral Colors Of Pumpkins
Instead of the ordinary orange pumpkins, use white and cream colored pumpkins to make your decor subtle and calm feeling such as I love this crisp and bright mantle from Lilypad Cottage. The wicker chairs add such warmth and I love the give thanks sign over the fireplace.
No Mantel? Create Vignettes On Surfaces Such as Buffets
If you don’t have a mantle, you can use a buffet, hutch or sideboard as a mantle like Liz Marie did Liz Marie Blog.
Or a console table like Honey we’re home.
Even if you’re limited on space, you can add fall themed art to open shelving.
Add In Just A Little Halloween
By using lots of natural elements, with a little Halloween, it has the same impact as on a mantle. And if you are starting to decorate for Halloween, here are a few cute ideas: Like this great Transitional mantle from Fall into Halloween.
Add Fall Nature Art
Adding fall nature art to your mantel or shelf surface adds height and interest when used as a backdrop.
Show Off Your Collections And Cluster Groupings Of Items
If you have a favorite collection such as vintage vases, show them off in en masse groupings. It makes an impact.
I love seeing all of the decorating going on, and how there are so many ways you can decorate for Fall whether you have a mantle or not!
Beautiful mantels here. This is the first year I have one in many years and I am excited to get it decorated. It didn’t get decorated for Halloween, since we were painting it and shiplapping it. Now that it is finished, I need to get to work. My favorite of those you featured is the one by Serendipity Refined. I love the look of the leaves on the branches. Sadly I have a big television above my mantel, but I can work with it. Glad to get some inspiration here! Happy Fall!
Thank you Chloe! It’s a great time of year to be able to decorate! I love Kim’s style too!
This is our first fall with a working fireplace (last year we were mid-reno), so I had a lot of fun decorating it. I went with lots of pumpkins from the garden like so many of the other bloggers here: I do have plans for something a bit creepier for Hallowe’en, though. Now that I have a mantel, I can’t stop decorating it! Thanks for the inspiration.
Just love that there is a site that showcases Mantels. I’ve always had mine filled with whimsy, holiday adding all of my goodies from around the house. Thank you for adding ideas to my repertoire!
