Holiday House walk 2015 Day 1!
I am so excited to share the Holiday House walk 2015 with you!!! This is our 5th year running!! Welcome to Day 1! There are some exciting things happening here! We are partnering with both Joss & Main and Good Housekeeping magazine to bring you this entire week of amazing homes and Christmas decor! We also have something else special!
Each day has a secret surprise house you can only get to this week on Instagram! Each year I get so many requests to be on the tour and I just can’t fit everyone. This way we have a few more houses full of holiday cheer! If you don’t have an IG account, don’t worry! I’ll also be doing a mini tour of these homes on the blog next week so you can enjoy them that way!
I will also be featuring them on IG, so if you have an account, stop over to see me at Jenniferrizzodesigncompany to click to the homes.
Next Monday will also be the big, annual linky party for a chance to be on next years house walk!
And,if you are looking for some music to go along with your walk, or music just to fluff your home with,I’ve set up this Pandora station
full of holiday tunes!
I am going to start off by inviting you into my home! Welcome, I am so happy you are here!
Come onto my front step decorated with this Joss and Main sweet faux tree and doormat.
Feel free to leave your boots and get comfy!
In the living room, I’ve added a few springs of faux greenery to my entry mirror.
I stayed neutral and clean this year with my decor, bringing in a lot of handmade elements.
One of my favorite things is my glass jar full of wintery branches. I just love how versatile it is!
It just looks so cheery!
It;s so easy to change seasons. I added some pretty glass ornaments to the branches for some sparkle.
They are so pretty when the sunlight hits them mid-afternoon.
I decked my tree in white glittery snowball and mercury glass.
And I added a few faux, flocked branches. I love real trees, but I am allergic to pine mold, so we had to switch to a faux tree a few years ago.
I added some vintage red ski’s for a pop of color behind the tree with a bottle brush wreath.
On my Gram’s buffet, I placed the foam core houses on some quilt batting.
I love the glittery gold tree next to the graphic look of the houses.
I wrapped a sweet, little grocery store tree in a piece of twine and birch bark. It’s probably the closest thing I will get to a real tree this year.
Over the couch I have the metal-look garland I made out of toilet paper rolls. Not too bad for something you normally recycle!
Come into the kitchen! I mentioned on Facebook I had a big change up in the kitchen this year! I needed a creative work area, because the kitchen table just wasn’t cutting it any more. In fact, we could never eat on it because it was always covered with “stuff”. I never had expected with a book and the blog things would have taken off the way they have that I actually need a real work space, but I did! We converted the entire dining area into a studio space for me and it’s made a world of difference! I’ll share that space with you next week, but for now the eat-in kitchen!
I have to say, I didn’t think I’d like it, but I love it. It actually feel much bigger!
Our kitchen in 12 x 12 and It finally feels like it! And we can eat at the table every night!
It’s kind of funny but we’ve lived in this house over 15 years now and this is the first time we’ve actually eaten in the kitchen.
I decided to have some fun and really go with color in here. I loved the idea of a really red plaid against the white and neutral colors.
I bought the sign at a holiday show and found the vintage marquee letters at a local vintage shop and added a beautiful pine garland from Joss
and Main.
For my table top to break up the plaid, I added a linen table runner and then a different plaid ribbon on the top.
I placed everything on a mini-sled so we could still eat at the table,
but I could keep my display on. I found the cute snowflake dot glasses at Ikea. You gotta love Ikea for that kind of stuff!!!
In the corner I placed a few springs of greenery from the yard to brighten it up. Sometimes I think those counter top corners can be challenging.
Over the stove this year, I placed a gold star on my silver tray. I added a few plaid towels form Homegoods.
And the kitchen window got the felted wool garland that I used on my downstairs tree last year. I love using a lot of my favorite decor, but in new ways every year.
To brighten up my kitchen window this year, I placed boxwood clipped from my yard in vintage salt and pepper shakers, purposed as mini-vases.
Thank you so much for visiting my home! I know you’ll love the next homes!
And I am joining at The Nester’s home tours as well!!!
