The Little Blue Painted Dresser Make-over

I finally got around to painting the little, yellow dresser at the beginning of December, and it became a The Little Blue Painted Dresser Make-over.

I decided I needed a little pop of color! Believe it or not, we had a our first “big” snow in Chicago the other day and by the next day it was gone! So now it’s just dreary out. Bleh. I think a bit of color just makes everything a bit more cheery. And I wanted to make it a big color change!

I  color matched to an old toolbox I have in my living room so it’s a custom color, but the closest color I could find in the was a Benjamin Moore fan deck was a color called Vintage Vavoom.

For some reason, this photographs much lighter. I might have to play with my white balance. This is actually a really dark blue-green. Yep, I painted over the handles for now. I couldn’t decide, so I went right over them! I thought it might make it a bit sleeker. If I decide later to bring them back to their original state, I just soak them in boiling water with a touch of dish soap and the paint will come right off.

I love how it looks against the white background.

I put a pretty, rough cut linen shade with ruffles on my lamp. I thought it looked perfect there against the large collaged bird artwork.

I added some birds and nests to my little terrarium for a touch of spring. It really makes it feel so much lighter in here.I am ready to bring in some color and spring!

  1. Love the color. I would love to learn how to paint a piece of furniture. I have a dresser and chest of drawers I want to paint. Do you have a good resource I could go to to learn? I am ready for your pom pom party! Am having fun with pom poms – thanks for the idea!!!

  2. HOw pretty! The color of the dresser really brings out the colors of the large canvas! What does it say? Pom poms?! OH I love pom poms!! I made my niece a pom pom wreath for Christmas which she promptly put on her head and wore as a crown. She is so fun at 7 years old (plus the only girl in our extended family!) and loves all things princess. Since I made the bow and hanger out of a gossamer ribbon she decided it was to be her crown! and now I”m a bad blogger…. I didn’t take a single picture of it or her. 🙁 But my big wreath should be presentable!

    Have a wonderful day!!

  3. Am I the only one who thinks the new color goes perfectly with the new bird print over the dresser? The dresser’s color brings out the blue in the print. I think the bird print pulls the entire corner together…with the terrarium’s bird and bird nest. Love looking at it…getting ideas for my house…

  4. Oh how darn cute is that! I would love something like this with our house. But girl, you went BRIGHT! I love it. Especially the birds. I am taking all the snowmen down this week and bringing in some SPRING.

Okay, one of my New Years resolutions is taking the time to leave more notes for my blogging friends! I always read posts in a reader and it makes it hard to leave a comment or two. But I do not miss a post! Love seeing the things you share and your lovely home. I wish I had more time to blog, but I work part time at our local library. I wanted to share with you my new blog, just opened this week…. http://www.brookekroeger.blogspot.com…. it will be for my vingage and digital work… including printables you might enjoy. I also have my home and garden site, http://www.creativecountrymom.blogspot.com. This week I am doing a look back to my spring garden.

Hope to be able to connect more in this new year. I am spending less time on Facebook and gave up twitter and everything else. A girl needs time to create, decorate and GARDEN ya know!

    God bless….Brooke
