DIY Faux Driftwood Deer Antlers
HI everyone! Today I have Jen from City Farmhouse here with a really creative project for you! She is showing us how to make DIY Faux Driftwood Deer Antlers. This is such a cool take on mounted antlers and I love the end result! The best part is it uses found driftwood and materials you might already have on hand.
Hi There!I hope you are all enjoying fall in your neck of the woods:).I am happy to be back here from my blog, City Farmhouse. Deer & Antler décor seems to be a hot accessory these days, especially now that it is fall & the holidays are ahead. I love the natural tones & texture of real antlers but thought instead I’d share and easy & creative alternative. If you can’t find driftwood or don’t live near the beach, you can use branches from your backyard such as Maple or Oak and spray paint them a cream or beige color to get the same look.
Supplies for making DIY Faux Driftwood Deer Antlers
Plaque for the wood mount, Styrofoam egg, 2 branches or driftwood pieces, a small square of fabric{drop cloth or linen}, tacky spray,
hot glue gun, foam brush and extremely watered down dark paint (try raw umber craft paint, or a dark grey).
Assemble you antlers
1. Start by slicing the egg in half.
2. Stain wood mount in a natural or driftwood color. It can also be left plain and coated with clear sealer.
3. Spray Styrofoam with tacky spray and cover with fabric{twice} to make it feel padded..
4. Mark and poke a hole with scissors at top on either side for antlers next to each other.
5. Push the driftwood anterls in & secure with hot glue.
6. Using hot glue attach to wood mount.
So easy to make, right:)?
These are so fun to display all year. While I displayed mine with a book stack, they are great to be stand alone too.
