I’m taking a slight departure today from painted home decor, to creating some hand-painted floral boots with DecoArt’s new Patent leather paint as part of the DecoArt challenge this month.

These are my favorite boots from Modcloth. Modcloth is one of my favorite places to find awesome shoes and boots. After wearing them for almost two years, almost every single day, even in summer, and even when they began falling apart, I decided it was time to retire them and get a new pair.
I just couldn’t get rid of them though. And even though they were well-loved, they were still wearable, so they’ve been taking up space in my closet. I knew this was the perfect project to pull them out for, and tackle them with DecoArt’s new Patent Leather paint, which is for shoes, purses and accessories.
The paint is waterproof ,flexible, and dries pretty quickly. I think they turned out pretty cute! And, thank you to hubby for helping me with the photography! He’s hired!
These hand-painted floral boots were so much fun to paint! I used the colors White,Turquoise,Beige,Garnet and Soft Pink.
I mixed the Beige and Turquoise to get the vine colors, and Turquoise and White to make the light blue flowers. The color mix really well together to make custom colors.
I kept it simple, and I made flower-like shapes for an artsy look. They are easy to paint by using a round brush and making three thick lines towards each other, almost like a heart. Once they dry, just add the thinner lines on the top with a liner brush. To make the vines, just use a thin brush and a scrolly motion. The leaves are just pointy ovals. So easy! It’s just shapes out together.
I made the dots with the back of a paint brush.
They have a great boho feel to them. I am so glad I didn’t donate them yet!
How fun are these for spring??? Even though they have lots of miles, as hand-pained floral boots,I have a new reason to wear them!
