Cutting Out Poinsettias with a Cricut

I am excited to be teaming up with Cricut and Balsam Hill this holiday season to bring you a pretty and handmade Christmas mantel decorating idea and how I used it for Cutting Out Poinsettias with a Cricut  in a palette of plum, cream, olive and gold.

I decided to start by layering two different mirrors to give interest. I like how the shapes play against each other. This is the mantel I made the faux brick backdrop on last year.

Plum gold, cream and green Christmas mantel idea

I used the faux greenery from Balsam Hill as a backdrop, and tucked gold stems for brightness randomly. I then hung my ornaments.

The ornaments were nice because they came in three boxes, completely coordinated for me which took out most of the guess work. 🙂

Then I started adding the handmade poinsettias I made with my Cricut Explore Air
.

They turned out so pretty and so sparkly! I can’t wait to share with you how to make them.

They add such a pretty, glittery touch with the gold ornaments. My favorite ornaments are the glass ones with the gold filigree.

I also made a few gold poinsettias too, but I really like the richness of the plum ones better. It was so easy to make cute snowflake pointsettias made with a cricut snowflake pattern.

On top of the mantel, I placed some gold geometric candle holders for my battery operated candles and added some handmade mistletoe embellishments that I made with the Cricut Explore Air
.

I used ornaments scattered on top of the mantel to add color and sparkle.

I made a mistletoe bundle with the Cricut to hang from the mirror. I wanted to keep it simple since the mantel was so busy, and really make the mantel the main focus.

I love the idea of being able to mix up handmade and ready made. I think it really personalizes decor, and let’s you really put yourself into it. I really enjoyed working with each product and seeing the end result. My mantel looks beautiful!

  1. Gorgeous use of color! The combination of plum and gold is simply stunning! I love how you used gold as the main focus color and added in bits of plum, especially with those glittery poinsettias. They are fantastic! Can’t wait to see how you made them!
    Thanks for sharing!

  2. Love what you’ve done with the Napa Jewel ornament set! That was one of my options for this year, but in the end I opted for the Silver & Gold decorating theme. 🙂

    Your mantel turned out beautiful!
