Cute Vintage Ornament-Inspired Embroidery Hoop Felt Wall Decor

If you love Shiny Brite and antique tree decor, you are going to find this project as charming as I do! This easy felt wall decor uses embroidery hoops and felt to create a fun  and colorful grouping. They are easy to craft and while we added some sewing components to ours, you can completely omit that. I have just fallen in love with these! I really love vintage Shiny Brite ornaments, and have quite the collection from my aunt and Grandmother. I love how this gives them a fresh twist.

Supplies to make Embroidery Hoop Felt Decor

Felt craft sheets in various colors and yellow or gray for the ornament caps

Scissors

Felt Glue

Embroidery floss

Embroidery hoops sizes 4 inches and up

Ribbon for hanging hoops

Light colored fine tip marker

Trace and Cut Out the Felt Pattern Pieces

After choosing a pattern based on vintage ornaments, choose a color as the base and trace around of the outside of the hoop.

Cut about 1 inch out from the circle to leave enough of a lip to later place the felt inside of the hoop.

Cut out the other pieces of felt in your pattern and use felt glue to glue each piece down and let dry.

Add the felt into the hoop and make sure the felt is tight.

Stitch on the embellishments of your Cute Vintage Ornament-Inspired Embroidery Hoop Felt Wall Decor

If adding stitching with embroidery floss, use a light colored fine tipped marker to mark where the stitches will go. Use am embroidery floss and needle to stitch a pattern on the felt.

Once your embroidery floss is stitched, make sure the felt is tight in the hoop and apply felt gluw to the back of the stitches.

Add a ribbon (or cut a thin piece of felt)through the embroidery hoop screw at the top for hanging and then use the template to cut out the”cap” shapes to glue over the embroidery hoop hardware.

Hang the wall hangings separately or in a cute cluster! These can be made in any size. For larger sizes instead of craft felt, use felt by the bolt from the fabric store.
