Paint A Gold and Black Christmas Pillow
There is something about black and gold together. it can either read very cheap and gaudy, or it can read very elegant. Especially when it’s gold lettering on a black background. I wanted to share with you how to paint a gold and black Christmas pillow with a hand-lettered look. I really love the song O Come, O Come Emmanuel and thought that would be perfect for my pillow.
Supplies for painting a gold paint on black pillow
Black cotton pillow cover and insert
Gold paint pen
Gold fabric paint
Chalk
Painter’s tape
Pen
Printed Template
Start by printing out the image (template to use for personal use only below) so that it’s right side up. Don’t print it in reverse lettering.
Rub chalk on the backside making sure to cover anywhere that has lettering on it. This is for a dark surface. If you are transferring to a light surface, use watercolor pencil.
Once your back is covered, flip it over and tape your template into place. Use a pen on the front to trace the image with firm pressure to trace over the letters and transfer the text.
Once I made sure my whole transfer was done, lift the corner slightly and make sure all of the letters transferred over. If not, trace over it again. Once all of your lettering is transferred over, the lettering is ready to paint.
I used a gold paint pen to trace the chalk lines especially the fine ones. Then I filled in with gold acrylic paint using a fine brush and gold fabric paint.
I let it dry 24 hours. If you think you are going to wash it, you can add fabric textile medium to your paint.
I put in a pillow insert and BAM!
I love how elegant this pillow looks and that it’s not bright red and green for Christmas. I do love traditional holiday colors, but this is a classic look.
I also have the text printable for you so you can make your own! Just save to your computer and print out to transfer.
