Leopard print love
Rhoda from Southern Hospitality and I both got the same leopard tissue paper from Hobby Lobby…She did this cute letter she got at a yard sale and has a great tutorial on decoupage. two projects the same paper….Hmmm. maybe we need to do a challenge in the future with a product and then link up.. any one up for that?
Remember this table I picked up in Kentucky? (Thank goodness I am lazy about deleting my pictures from our digital camera.. to the tune of 742 pictures saved. Tell your Moms that sometimes laziness does pay off…) it was a dark cherry color, but the top was dinged and scratched. I remembered to take a picture half way through priming it…After priming, I did a coat of white, then tan, then some isolated red. Then back to tan.
I then candle waxed it in areas of “distress” and lightly crackle glazed it.
After decoupaging the leopard paper on top, I rubbed a cream color on.
After it dried, distressed it how I wanted it, by aging it with Burnt Umber and Raw Umber. Then another light sanding on the sides. About 7 polycoats on top and it’s ready to go…A lot of people want to know the difference between Burnt and Raw Umber when aging items. Think of Burnt Umber as relative age (50 years); the medium patina of time.. and to go that step further.. well that’s Raw Umber. That’s the dirt and grit of a time worn piece stored in some one’s shed.. You know, the good stuff.
With 3 colors.. Teddy Bear Tan( light aging), Burnt Umber and Raw Umber you can go as old as you like.
