Paint a Farmhouse Dresser

This pretty  dresser my husband found for me on the side of the road after telling me not to bring any more furniture into the house. 🙂 Yep, He’s a keeper. It was a nice size and while the drawers were scratched, the top was in great shape. It was perfect to paint it and make it into a farmhouse dresser. It was also going to be great extra storage for us!
Disassembled wooden dresser with three removed drawers placed nearby on outdoor patio, ready to paint a farmhouse style makeover.

Like I had mentioned, the top was actually in fantastic condition and the wood was a really pretty color, so I decided to leave it for now. It already had  a really nice, hard coat of shellac. It worked out well to not have to refinish the entire dresser. I love the natural wood showing through, especially with the contrast of the painted white wood.
On a rustic wooden surface, a corner of a decorative tray with white candles evokes the charm you'd find if you were to paint a farmhouse dresser.

All she needed was a good cleaning and coat of paint (or two). I don’t know why but it seemed like a “she”.  After giving her  a slight sanding and adding a few coats of Benjamin Moore White Dove and new crystal handles, she was pretty again.
A light-colored dresser with crystal knobs and a wooden top, painted in a farmhouse style, is positioned next to a white cushion. A decorative black tray with candles rests on top, adding charm to this inviting space.
She is going to be my “office” and storage for my inside art supplies. The drawers are a greats size to hold all kinds of things. You can never have enough storage in a smaller home.
Framed painting of a red barn in a pastoral scene on a wooden surface, next to a white decorative lamp and a ceramic bird figurine, with a mirror reflecting part of the lamp. This charming setup is perfect inspiration if you wish to paint a farmhouse dresser with rustic appeal.

I was excited I finally had  a place to display the “new-to-me”  paint-by-number picture I bought from The Farm Chicks show and my grandmother’s mirror and $4 Goodwill lamp with a burlap shade trimmed in lace.
The image shows the word "Jen" written in a black, cursive script on a white background

  1. Love it ALL! Good job girl 🙂
I am so in love with your burlap lampshade….did you stencil the design on there and add the lace? Too cute!

  2. Your goodwill lamp is like the one I can’t afford at the Pottery Barn! Great find! The dresser is lovely, you could use it in any room of the house. Always a pleasure visiting! Love, Penny
