How to Make Butterfly Magnets
Welcome to the 6 Days of Spring! We are so excited you are here! I can’t wait to share with you how to make these pretty butterfly magnets using those cute little butterflies in the garden aisle! All week long, 5 other blogs and I, including the Pottery Barn blog, Eclectically Vintage,French Country Cottage,The Shabby Creek Cottage, and the Lily Pad Cottage will be filling the next 5 days with spring projects, ideas and inspirations! That’s over 36 awesome inspirations to get your spring fever going! I am so excited to share my first project with you: How to Make Butterfly Magnets.
*disclaimer: Any time you craft with magnets keep out of reach of small children and pets. Magnets that are swallowed can have serious medical consequences.
Every time I walk through the craft store,I am always attracted to those packs of butterflies in the floral aisle. I love their bright colors.
Many time I’ll buy them not really knowing what to use them for, but there is just something about them that I love.
I thought some magnets would be cute and I know my girls would love them. We are all things glitter and sparkles around here. Unless they are fighting; then it’s blood, hair-pulling, glitter and sparkles. I am glad they are also old enough to not put magnets or anything else in their mouths.
I grabbed some larger round magnets, and I also had some wood craft disks on hand that I painted black. I was afraid if I glued the butterflies right to the magnets, they would get de-winged pretty quick.
I first hot-glued the disk to the magnet and once that cooled, I flipped it over and glued the butterfly to the front.
They were pretty just sitting on the vintage cutting board I use for my hot glue gun.
Once they were cool, I put them on my fridge around some of the kids artwork.
Butterflies will make anything look good. Even good old Bessie (our fridge.)
It’s a fun way to bring some sweet artwork to life. They have been flying all over the fridge, adorning A+ papers, lunch tickets, and spelling lists.
We’ve only had 1 de-winging and luckily there was no blood or hair-pulling involved that time.
