Angel Santos Cage Dolls and Handmade Earrings

I’ve been getting ready for both The 3 French Hens Holiday show in Morris, and the Nook Holiday show in Naperville. It’s been a crazy art-a-palooza here. I think when I blew my nose the other day glitter came out. I wanted to share with you a couple of the things I’ve been working on. I’ve been making all kinds of things such as handmade pillows, towels and jewelry. I made some beautiful Angel Santos Cage Dolls and Handmade Earrings.

I love making jewelry, especially with a messy wire wrap! If you want to learn more about it, you can take my Modern Bohemian Jewelry Workshop here.

I’ve also been making Santos/art dolls for a year or so now and I have been really trying to stretch myself a bit.  I’ve also taught a class in it and would really love to get even deeper into making them. I really love the process of sculpting and painting. I’ve been experimenting with lots of new techniques. You can find many of my supplies here.

 The first Cage Doll I’ve finished for the show is the Snow Queen.

 This Santos Cage Doll has french text wings and a German glass glitter crown. I had found some round boxes to put her on and I love the height. She’s over 20 inches tall.

 I was then inspired to make a messenger angel for the honor and grace of the holiday season.

I love the act of creating and sculpting Santos Cage Dolls. Bringing the Angel Cage Doll, and the Snow Queen cage doll to life was a joy.

 I used more french text and mica glitter when creating my Snow Queen and Angel santos cage dolls. I love me some mica glitter. Her wings are created with french sheet music. I think she looks serene.

Which is not how I feel right now. I need a little Zen moment I think. I will be making, making, making the next few days more than Angel Santos Cage Dolls and Handmade Earrings.

  1. Oh my… these are absolutely beautiful! I have taken your class and am still waiting for a spare moment to make one of these, I can say that I am more inspired than ever now! I hope you have fun at the shows! t.xoxo

  2. Love the Santos. Was surrounded by them when I lived in Flagstaff Arizona. You don’t see them much elsewhere. Pretty earrings too, especially the caged pearls.

  3. Love those, Jen. The details are so pretty…and the earrings are so cute, too! Sell lots at the shows, I know you will be mobbed with people.

    Hope you can make it to the grand opening of the shop! Would be great to see you!

  4. Oh, she is absolutely lovely! {And you made me spit out milk when you shared the glitter sneeze. Thank you for the laugh as I head in to figure out what on earth is for dinner!}
