HI everyone! Welcome if you are coming over from Sarah M. Dorsey Designs!
When I was approached by The Online Fabric Store to be included with a very talented group of bloggers to create a fabric project based on a classic book picked by them, I knew I was game!
I had the book Little Women,by Louisa May Alcott which I remembered reading in college and I’ve seen the movie many, many times. It tells the story of four amazing sisters and their life in New England during the Civil War era. It’s definitely a classic! They always play it around the holidays and I try to catch it at least once!
I was able to order all of these fabulous fabrics from Online fabric store for my project, and I think I went a little crazy with all of the choices.
I wanted to really update it and do a new twist on an old classic. I decided to put women’s profiles based on the Character’s in the book, cut from these great modern fabrics on a lampshade. I even have templates at the end of the post just for you if you want to make your own!
I used this technique to make the fabric stiff enough to work with and to keep the edges from fraying. I used the templates to trace and cut my silhouettes and then glued them on!
It was fun to mix and match the fabrics and play with the different designs and colors.
I also added little pops of colors from left over bits of the cut fabric like on “Amy’s” bow.
What I love most how colorful this lampshade is and how I can turn it to a different color combo in front to change the whole look!
It was so easy to do, but has such a great impact!
If you want to make your own, just right click to save the templates to your computer to use for personal use and then resize them to fit your own lampshade or even on a pillow.
It was so much fun to think outside of the box! Hop on over to the next blogger The Hunted Interior and see what amazing creativeness she came up with!
