Grown Up Art Summer Camp in the Lisle Studio
The one thing I loved most about being a Girl Scout was all of the hands on crafts and activities. There was something magical about being able to make art and crafts, and just the act of making the craft was special. Life is hard, and I wanted to bring back that feeling of fun and creativity. That feeling of being a kid and just making things. I decided to hold Grown Up Art Summer Camp in the studio. It’s a collection of 11 stand alone workshops that you can take just one of or a few. We were just featured on WGN news and you can see a little more with the video in this post. The projects are for all skill levels and at the end of each workshop you even earn a badge (sticker)!
Grown Up Art Summer Camp is for ages 18+ and features projects that you might have first been introduced to in a camp-setting. Wood burning, weaving, clay, macrame and watercolor. But all of these projects have a grown up twist to them. They are projects you can use as an adult in your home or give as a gift. All materials are provided in the cost of the workshop. If you don’t live close enough to take an online workshop, make sure to sign up on our platform for online workshops, you’ll be the first in the know when we have e-workshops launch! Here is a look at the in person workshop line up!
Grown Up Art Summer Camp Workshops
Starting on June 8th we’ll use play bricks to create one of a kind printing projects!
Then we’ll have fun with the nostalgia of catching fireflies when we make this pressed flower jar with decoupage.
On June 15th we’ll make a yarn coiled bowl/basket.
And then on June 19th we paint fun wood signs that can be personalized.
On June 22nd we’ll get the wood burning tools out and make one of a kind cutting boards.
And create pretty string art on June 26th.
For Grown Up Art Summer Camp on June 29th we’ll make Macrame keychains. I do have an outside instructor for this and this is why.
Heading into July, on the 6th we’ll do a fun weaving project on vintage badminton rackets for unconventional weaving and creating!
And of course, what summer camp arts and craft program would be complete without a clay project where we make fun pinch pots? If you like playing with clay see how we made this fun clay bird wall hanging.
Saturday, July 20th we will dive into painting in watercolor with a pretty wildflower jar. Painting flowers is fun and so relaxing. Hydrangeas are easy to paint in acrylic! See how here.
On July 24th we’ll preserve those camp memories with painted memory wood picture frames.
and I remember learning to embroider as a Girl Scout so of course we are going to teach it in our own summer camp!
I hope you’ll join us for our first Grown Up Art Summer Camp in the studio and have fun creating with us! Find out more or register here.
