My inspired room…The living room

Do you have a favorite room in your home that just inspires you? As  a part of the Inspired Room book tour, I am sharing the one room in my home that really inspires me.

The Inspired Room Tour - Celebrating the Launch of the New Coffee Table Book - The Inspired Room - by New York Times Best Selling Author of Love the Home You Have - Melissa Michaels

My living room one of the few rooms in our home that we keep as an entirely “adult space. It’s lovely to have some place in our home to go to curl up and read a book and be away from the kids clutter. Collected and colorful living roomThe sun comes through the windows every day about 2 p.m. and casts a lovely, warm glow on everything.

It’s one of those places that has been through many changes as well.  It measures 12 by 17 feet. The nice thing about a rectangular room is it does give you some layout options. Currently, I have the furniture more to the front of the room which makes it cozy when you first come in.

Vintage artful and creative living room

Before,  had the furniture more to the back of the space and along the walls.

Bright and colorful livingroom

I like having it pulled it forward a little more and breaking the space with the chair. It almost makes it feel bigger and gives it more “zones”. It makes it feel a little more modern as well.

pretty living room

This was when I had the couch against the back wall about 5 years ago. I did like the couch on a feature wall, but a large chunk of wasted space to the front area.

  1. What a lovely room. I love the laid back glamour style, the cheerful colors and just the overall feel to it. Definitely a room I could kick back and enjoy reading a magazine in.

  2. Hi. I’d like to email you a question directly since my question doesn’t have to do with this post but rather another one that I cannot find Leave Comment – probably because it is older. Thanks

    1. Hi Joelle. What can I answer for you? My e-mail can be found under the heading of contact at the top.
