DIY Modern Boho Ornament Tree
Adding boho Christmas decor is an easy way to bring a fun vibe to your holiday decor. Once Thanksgiving is over it’s a good time to bring out the tree and make it feel festive. I wish we could have a real tree, but a faux tree will have to do around here. If you want to bring a bit of boho style to your holiday decorating, try putting together a DIY Modern Boho Ornament Tree.

For a Boho Christmas Tree Bring in Natural Texture
There are a few things that really scream boho decor at the holiday season. Starting with a base of natural textures helps like added wooden bead garlands . Using wool yarn or cream cotton embellishments to create macrame or Handmade wool pom poms brings in another element to the boho Christmas tree. You don’t need a fancy or expensive Christmas tree either. Positioned right next to the bottlebrush tree mantel decor, our faux Christmas tree is a basic pre-lit green tree that I put different faux pine picks and greenery in to bulk it up a bit. I love making pom poms because you can use them in all kinds of ways.

Boho Christmas tree decor also means using some color and hand-painted ornaments. This year I made gold, black and white ornaments. See the DIY tutorial on how to make the boho Christmas ornaments here! It goes well with the draping wood bead garland.
Make your Tree Top Star a Statement Piece
As a kind of free-spirited person, I wanted to change up how I hung our Christmas tree star. In the past, I’ve always put a star on the top of the tree. None of the toppers we’ve had really fit well at the top, and they always seemed to lean a little bit sideways. This year I decided to try a different approach and hung it from a hook in the ceiling. We already had hooks where the hanging plants were before the tree went up, so it was perfect, and I love that the grape vine texture was a nice bit of neutral Christmas decor against the twinkly lights and glitter gold of the boho ornaments.

Use Unconventional Materials like Velvet Ribbon or Twine to Hang Ornaments
I tied the ornaments on with velvet ribbon from Anthropologie. I love the contrast of neutral colors of the pom poms and wood beads with the painted ornaments and color of the ribbon.
I love how it’s easy to get some boho vibes by mixing textures and materials. Even things like twine, or tassels are nice alternatives to traditional Christmas tree decor. If you are feeling really adventurous, other options with boho holiday decor are feathers and pine cones. With boho style you can definitely take more risks.
