Shop Pictures from Affordable Antiques

I have a few shop pictures from Affordable Antiques where my petit shop is now located. I am so glad I am able to share with you the display and merchandise from my little shop and I am excited to give you a peek around!
Bird in a nest

Moving to this space a month ago was a big step for me. I was originally out of a smaller cooperative mall with a booth space for almost 6 years. While I made some money, kind of, I had never treated it like a real business. I thought…. it’s just a booth. In reality, any one who has a booth is actually running  a mini-store. Now that I have move to a much bigger cooperative location with a higher rent and greater possibility, it has an entirely new view for me. One of my real dreams one day is to won my very own brick and mortar retail store with a studio for classes. This person is running the exact same kind of place I want to.

When I decided to move out of the  place I was at. It was hard. I loved the ladies there and I kind of grew up in that place and got my feet wet there, and I had been there so long. In fact, it’s what got me into wholesaling;knowing I could make things and people would actually buy them.

This time, I am trying to really treat this like a real business instead of just a hobby. I stock new and handmade as well as vintage.

It’s a whole new experience for me, and it’s one that is wetting my palate for something bigger. And I am continuing to learn much more about supply and demand, merchandising, and staying true to my style…all at the same time.  It’s not about just throwing  a bunch of crap in a space and calling it a day.

  5. OH how exciting! One of these days I would like to do something similar… maybe. Congratulations once again!

  6. love your booth space jen…i had a booth a few years ago in a local antique mall and loved it but when it became a “job” i got out…don’t know if i’ll ever do it again but i loved the thrill of the hunt, making over furniture and best of all, selling it!

i just realized you live in naperville, illinois. i had a good friend whose father was in the air force with mine and when they retired they moved to naperville…her name was joanne dannewitz and she married a ron sebby…do you know them? what a small world that would be!

  7. Congratulations on your move! Your space is beautifully arranged to appeal to customers. I have been at this since 1998, I love it. When it gets too tough to handle, you can ease away and let the space sell itself. Just keep moving the items around. I try to add new things every four days and do a quarter turn every four weeks.

  8. It looks amazing! I shop there on a regular basis and will be stopping in to purchase a couple of things that have caught my eye already!!! They are lucky to have you there!!!

  9. Jen
I am going to check your space out next time I am down in Naperville. I love seeing you at Kane and the holiday market so it will be fun to visit your booth.
