Golden Fan Palm Bathroom Makeover
It’s been over a year since I made-over our bathroom, and I thought it was a good time to give it a refresh now that it finally seems like we are heading into spring (and being cooped up in the house more than usual.). I wanted to give our bathroom a refresh, and make it sunny and bright and a little boho-modern feeling. I call it my Golden Fan Palm Bathroom Makeover. I’ve been inspired on Instagram after looking at quite a few of what I would call “Desert Decor” accounts, like The Joshua Tree House from the Alt Conference. To make over the room, I addd abstract art that I had painted, and a shower curtain and towels I designed ( You can shop them at the end of the post!). This is a peek at the bathroom before; you can see the full makeover here the from before we painted it.

I still am in love with the blue-green color on the walls; the paint color really adds drama to our cozy bathroom. I wanted to make it a little more modern, and use my own designed home decor. A mini-makeover was the perfect opportunity. I love doing mini-makeovers because they are a cost effective way to give rooms a little refresh, and can completely change a space like when I did this one I did a few years ago.
I changed out the vintage bird botanical art for my own original abstract art canvas. It brings a great pop of color. The Golden Fan Palm shower curtain is fun and adds such brightness! I love the variation of the golden tones. It was made from one of my original watercolor images.
I also designed hand and bath towels to coordinate as well as a part of my Golden Fan Palm Bathroom Makeover.
On Target.com, I found some fun yellow hand towels that were great backdrop to layer the fan palm towels over. They are by Opalhouse and had a lot of fun colors to choose from.
I can’t get over how much happier the bathroom feels! There is something about yellow that is so cheerful. These few simple changes have changed the entire tone of the room! The hanging Pothos plant adds a lot of life, and it loves the humidity!
To accessorize around the sink, I added the daffodils in a white vase, and some Himalayan salt crystal chunks in a drinking glass from The Dollar Store. Who says the Dollar Store doesn’t have style, these are actually some pretty awesome glasses.
If you’re looking for the towels and shower curtain, you can find them here, and a similar white vase here.
What a wonderfully bright bathroom! Love it! The blue-green walls with the golden yellow is perfect! I love how you’re not afraid of color. ( Our homes must be similar in age because I originally had that same black & white basket weave flooring in my bathrooms but wasn’t able to salvage them…that was 10 years ago and I’m still sick about it. Mine is 1941. ) Love your blog Jen!
Thank you so much Kristi! I do love to add color, it’s fun to play with! We put the basket weave in in 2010-ish. I love those timeless looks! It’s such a bummer you couldn’t save your original tile, I love that it was from 1941!
