Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday Home Tour 2019
Welcome to my holiday home tour 2019 and the entire Holiday Housewalk sponsored by Arhaus (opinions are entirely my own)! The fun thing about running the housewalk is that I have a great opportunity to change up my home every year. This year I decided to add color, inspired from the colors in my living room rug.

I shared my mantel and Christmas tree last week, and I changed it up for the tour today! Our home changes constantly. We’ve renovated our cozy 1,100 square foot split level from top to bottom over the last 20 years, and I love adding personal touches such as my birch tree wall mural painted on a sheet in our dining area, or reclaimed vintage pieces such as this added transom that make it seem not so “split-levely”
I added fresh cedar after the eucalyptus dried out (you can see that here.). We set up our nativity scene, and I added some really cool vintage sign numbers. I love sprinkling in new and vintage together. It brings so much personality to a space.
My rug is one of my favorite things in my living room, next to our new faux wood beam mantel. You can see through to our dining room where we added a hanging vintage door on sliding barn door hardware.
Another one of my favorite things are my mercury glass trees I bought a few years ago. I love how they are so versatile and I can use them all over the place in my holiday decor.
This year I was inspired by my rug for my holiday decor! You can see here how I made my own custom ornaments.
I love the smell of cedar, it smells like Christmas to me! I bought the stocking with the mini-poms from World Market, and made the tassels for the other white stocking to add some color.
To get the ornaments to stay on the mantel, I looped some wire and fastened each ornament to the branches. I love the extra sparkle they add.
In the kitchen, I added some fun touches. One of them is I decided to get a little crazy and use wrapping paper as wallpaper!
Of course, I decided to do it on Thanksgiving with 20 people coming over, and my hair wasn’t even done yet. Some strong double stick tape is holding it in place until I’m ready to take it down. I needed some strong double-stick for my hair too! Lol!
But I LOVE the color it brings to the kitchen! It’s kind of like using temporary dye on your hair. Just a touch of color until you’re ready for a change!
I hung a faux swag for over my kitchen window… love the pop of green! One thing I love to do is gather fresh greenery from my yard, and tuck it in the faux swag to make it look way more realistic.
A little bit of boxwood and cypress from the yard adds a realistic touch.
I also dressed up underneath the window with one of my towel designs from the shop.
On the windowsill, I added vintage bottles with juniper clipped from a tree in our yard. Every year I’ve been trying to plant more and more trees and bushes so I could have a year round cutting garden.
I have a weird part of my kitchen counter that has a deep corner, it makes it a hard place to display anything. I decided on a mini-bottle brush forest this year. I have a thing for bottle brush trees. Over the stove I added some boxwood on a vintage painting.
I paired it up with one of my hot cocoa towel designs from the store.
I added some Christmas cheer to the other side of my kitchen on on my open shelving, and placed a vintage painting behind a fun sleigh and Santa vignette.
Just adding some fresh fruit like pomegranates and pears adds color!
We recently got rid of an old cabinet on this wall, and I love the simplicity. The colors in the vintage oil painting are so beautiful, I love how a few clipped cypress branches and peace sign are a pretty accent.
Looking from the kitchen into the dining room, I added a fun pom pom garland, and some simple touches with bottlebrush trees to go with all pf my natural decor.
I love the pops of color they bring!
